These boots have given me terrible heel blisters (much bleeding on a walking holiday). The problem is with the design of the back of the boot, which pinches severely. Have now reverted to Meindls.

Was happy with them until the soles became loose, both boots and both sides at ball of foot and they were not heavily used although had owned for too long to be covered by guarantee. Better glue need!

On my 3rd pair of scarpa SL actives, the latest pair only had for four years and the sole has literally disintegrated! ‘They don’t build them like they used to eh!’
Comfortable & great foot support

These are heavy but bombproof. Used them for years as 4 season boots (even with crampons). Wide toe box. Changed insoles for superfeet. Test before wearing and keep re-proofed with specific wax.

The worst boots I’ve ever owned. Two months in, the front of the sole peeled off.
Then after countless sock and lacing combinations, they are still torture. Also zero wet rock grip.
Avoid.

Hard to source quality boots without some so called waterproof, 'breathable' layer. Membranes get worn, let water in and keep it in, plus are hot in summer. These boots are easily reproofed. The best.

I have been using the scarpa SL boot for around 10 years and I really can’t fault them, yes there expensive but after 10 years of medium and on occasions heavy use there is still plenty of life left!

Incredibly heavy! A single boot is heavier than my pair of North Face leather boots, this weight penalty will take its toll during longer walks, and these ruined my heels on the way up a Corbett.

Very hard to find non membrane boots as I find Goretex doesn’t last long enough. These fitted the bill but they are huge, clumsy and giving me heel blisters after 50+ miles. Laces also far too long.

Great boots. Had an issue with arch support causing blisters, tendon and knee pain on long hikes. However this was immediately sorted with Sidas insoles. Now the most comfortable boots I’ve owned.

Absolutely loved these boots but after one year the inside lining and sole started to disintegrate, the outside of the boot is still like brand new. For £250 I expected a lot more.

I was extremely happy at 1st with these boots. However after a year the internal heel fabric started to wear away, and now I can no longer wear them as there is no fabric left and they give blisters

I’ve been using these boots ( same pair ) for 5 years now , through all the seasons and all the weather the Scottish hills can bring . These fit really well and the support around the ankle is superb . The vibrant soles speak for themselves , excellent traction even on wet/dry rocks . The waterproof ability on these boots are second to nothing else , I have not had a wet foot ever , and that’s 40 munro’s I have ticked off , rain , snow , hail , sun these do everything I have ever asked them to do ,keep me sure footed and dry . Well done scarpa , well deserved 5*

Just recently bought these boots, after doing some research. I've worn them around the house everyday to bed them in, feel so comfy. Pleased at my purchase.

Bought my second pair of Scarpa SL Boots after many hundreds of extremely comfortable all year round walking miles in my first pair. Serves me well on either a short woodland stroll or rigged with Crampons in the Lake District.
